A tigress rescued from a poacher's trap has been released back into its natural habitat in the Sundarbans after receiving treatment for more than six months at a wildlife rehabilitation centre in Khulna. The nearly nine-foot-long and around 90-kilogram tigress was caught in a snare trap set by deer poachers near Shorkir Khal under the Chandpai Range of the Sundarbans East Forest Division on January 3. It was rescued the following day in critical condition and taken to the Wildlife Rehabilitation Centre in Khulna for treatment.
