# Rajshahi City Corporation and Youth Changemakers Network Begin Month-Long Tree Plantation Drive

*Rajshahi City Corporation, in collaboration with the Youth Changemakers Network, has launched a month-long tree plantation program to enhance urban greenery.*

A month-long tree plantation and saplings distribution program, known as Project Shikor, was launched by the Youth Changemakers Network in partnership with the Rajshahi City Corporation (RCC) across the city's 30 wards. The initiative, which aims to implement Prime Minister Tarique Rahman's goal of planting 25 crore trees over five years, was inaugurated by RCC Administrator Mahfuzur Rahman Riton at the Central Park and Zoo.

During the launch, Riton emphasized the nationwide implementation of tree plantation programs to fulfill the Prime Minister's vision. He highlighted RCC's efforts to plant 2.5 lakh tree saplings in the city, with support from various organizations, educational institutions, and government and private entities. Over the next two years, Rajshahi is expected to become greener.

Riton also mentioned that several initiatives from the Prime Minister's 31-point outline are already being executed, such as the distribution of Family Cards, Agriculture Cards, honorarium payments to religious officials, and canal excavation programs. The Prime Minister has encouraged youth to take up sports as a profession to build a drug-free nation.

President of Youth Changemakers Network Didarul Islam, General Secretary Israt Jahan, Vice President Amit Sarkar, and other members participated in the event. Also present were RCC officials, leaders from different levels of the BNP party, and representatives from various institutions. The program aims to transform Rajshahi into a more beautiful, clean, green, healthy, and safe city.

This initiative is part of a broader effort to enhance the urban environment in Bangladesh, aligning with national goals for environmental sustainability and urban development.
