Rangpur Metropolitan Police (RpMP) Commissioner Mohammad Abdul Mabud announced that DNA and dope tests will be conducted on the two suspects arrested for the quadruple murder in Rangpur. The autopsy of the victims revealed no signs of rape, according to the Commissioner's statement at a press briefing. The victims, a retired teacher of Rangpur Zilla School Ganapati Chakraborty Jewel, his wife Pritilata Chakraborty Bhola, daughter Agami Chakraborty Prarthi, and son Ayush Chakraborty Priyam, were found strangled to death at their home in Machhuapara area.

Gopinath Chakraborty, elder brother of the deceased Ganapati Chakraborty Jewel, filed a murder case against unknown killers with Rangpur Metropolitan Kotwali police station. A special RpMP’s Detective Branch (DB) Police team led by Deputy Commissioner (DC) of Police (DB) Sanatan Chakraborty arrested the two suspects, Mugdha Das and Siddhartha Das, in the early hours of Sunday. The arrestees confessed to the murders under Section 164 of the Code of Criminal Procedure before Rangpur Chief Metropolitan Magistrate Court Judge Md Rafiqul Islam.

During the press briefing, Commissioner Mabud detailed the investigation progress, stating that the autopsy confirmed the cause of death for all four victims was strangulation. The Commissioner presented the confessional statements of the accused, Siddhartha and Mugdha, and other witnesses. According to their statements, the suspects consumed Yaba pills on the night of the murder and decided to kill the family after an argument with Ganapati Chakraborty.

The suspects narrated that they strangled Ganapati Chakraborty first, followed by his wife and daughter when they came to the roof. The son, Ayush Chakraborty Priyam, was also strangled after he woke up and recognized one of the suspects. The suspects then attempted to stage the scene as a robbery by disorganizing the house and taking valuables.

Commissioner Mabud emphasized the importance of public cooperation in investigating such crimes, urging anyone with information to contact law enforcement agencies. The police are now focusing on conducting DNA and dope tests to further the investigation and verify the information provided by the suspects.

This brutal quadruple murder has shocked the community in Rangpur, highlighting the need for thorough investigations and community support in solving such heinous crimes. The police's swift action in arresting the suspects and their commitment to conducting further tests demonstrate their dedication to bringing justice to the victims and their families.
