In a significant crackdown, the Detective Branch (DB) of the Rangpur District Police arrested four members of a brokers’ gang for their alleged involvement in cheating during the Bangladesh Police Assistant Sub-Inspector (unarmed) recruitment exam held in Rangpur. The operation led to the seizure of fake admit cards, screenshots of money transactions, mobile phones, and other evidence.

## How was the gang operation uncovered?

The investigation began when an examinee, Ashraful Islam, was found with a fake admit card at the examination center. During interrogation, Ashraful confessed to the scheme, revealing that a deal was made with his father through two individuals, Badsha Masud Alam and Nurul Islam, to secure a police job for Taka 17 lakh. Ashraful had already paid Taka 2.5 lakh into a Dhaka Bank account.

## What actions were taken by the police?

Following Ashraful's confession, the DB Police launched a coordinated operation. Badsha Masud Alam was apprehended from the Jahaz Company Intersection area in Rangpur, where evidence of fraudulent activities and financial transactions was found on his phone. Later, with the assistance of the Kotwali police station of the Rangpur Metropolitan Police, Nurul Islam was arrested in Dhaka.
