Police have arrested four people, including the main accused in the murder case of prominent lawyer Advocate Nizam Uddin Shanto (42). The district police confirmed that the accused were arrested with the help of information technology within 50 hours of the murder.

## Incident and Investigation

Bagerhat Superintendent of Police Hasan Mohammad Naser Rikabder disclosed the information at a press briefing held at the Superintendent of Police's office. He said that Advocate Nizam Uddin Shanto was stabbed to death by miscreants at Tetultala intersection in Harikhali area on the night of July 25 while he was returning home on a motorcycle after finishing court work.

## Arrests and Evidence

After filing a murder case at Bagerhat Sadar Model Police Station, a joint team of police and DB started an investigation into the incident. A special operation led to the arrest of Sheikh Murad (41), Abu Taher Deep alias Dipu (29), Md. Hafizur Rahman (48), and Shipon Sheikh (28) from PC Dema area of Bagerhat Sadar Upazila. A modern knife used in the murder was recovered from the main accused Sheikh Murad.

## Legal Proceedings

Superintendent of Police Hasan Mohammad Naser Rikabder said that the arrestees will be sent to the court and a remand application will be filed. The police hope to uncover more information about the real reason for the murder and others involved in it through interrogation on remand.
