# PIB DG Highlights Truthful, Verified Info as Journalists' Primary Responsibility

Faruk Wasif, Director General (DG) of Press Institute Bangladesh (PIB), emphasized that presenting truthful and verified information is the greatest responsibility of a journalist. He stressed that credibility is a reporter's most valuable asset, achieved by upholding honesty, professional competence, and ethical standards. Wasif made these remarks while addressing the closing ceremony of a three-day training workshop on Artificial Intelligence (AI) and fact-checking at Chandpur Press Club.

## Evolving Journalism

Wasif noted that journalism is rapidly evolving with technological advancements. He urged journalists to continuously develop their skills to keep pace with these changes. The workshop, held from July 23 to 25, aimed to enhance the professional skills of journalists in Chandpur, promote the effective use of modern technology, and strengthen their fact-checking capabilities.

## Training and Development

The workshop was attended by 35 journalists from print, television, and online media outlets across Chandpur district. PIB, as the country's central training institution for journalists, has been introducing training programs on emerging issues in line with the changing needs of the profession. The closing ceremony was chaired by Chandpur Press Club President Sohel Rushdi and addressed by Chandpur Deputy Commissioner Ahmed Ziaur Rahman. Chandpur Press Club General Secretary MA Latif conducted the event, with PIB trainer Zilhaz Uddin Nipun and other leaders, senior journalists, trainers, and participating journalists in attendance.
