# Minister Ariful Provides Financial Aid to Families of Bangladeshis Killed in Qatar Accident

In a ceremony held in Kanaighat, Sylhet, Expatriates' Welfare and Overseas Employment Minister Ariful Haque Choudhury handed over government assistance to the families of five Bangladeshi expatriates who tragically lost their lives in a road accident in Qatar on June 21. Each bereaved family received a cheque worth Tk 300,000 from the fund of the Wage Earners' Welfare Board, as directed by Prime Minister Tarique Rahman.

Addressing the gathering, Minister Ariful Haque Choudhury highlighted various government measures aimed at securing the future of the bereaved families. He announced that the government would provide the necessary assistance to cover the full educational expenses of the children in these families. Additionally, to restore the social and financial stability of the families who have lost their loved ones, the government will take steps to send at least one member from each family abroad on a priority basis under government arrangements.

The minister also issued a stern warning against human trafficking and illegal migration. He urged local residents to expose brokers who lure young people from the area and send them abroad illegally by sea or through other risky routes. "Provide us with information about these brokers. We will take strict legal action against them," he said.

The ceremony was attended by Sylhet-5 constituency MP Mufti Mohammad Abul Hasan and Reserved Women's Seat MP Shammi Akter. The event underscored the government's commitment to supporting the families of expatriates who face unforeseen tragedies while working abroad.

The Wage Earners' Welfare Board, established to support the welfare of Bangladeshi expatriates, plays a crucial role in providing financial and social assistance to families in need.
