# Two Madaripur Food Manufacturers Fined Tk 1.20 Lakh for Safety Violations

Two food manufacturing establishments in Madaripur have been fined a total of Tk 1,20,000 for producing food under unhygienic conditions, using substandard ingredients, and violating food safety regulations. The drive was conducted by the district administration in collaboration with the Bangladesh Food Safety Authority (BFSA) under the Food Safety Act, 2013. Rajdhani Bakery was fined Tk 100,000 for various violations, while Talha Food Products received a Tk 20,000 fine.

During the operation, inspectors discovered that Rajdhani Bakery, located in the Old BSCIC industrial area, was manufacturing products in an unhygienic environment. Violations included the use of low-quality food additives, storage of rotten eggs, poor sanitation, lack of health certificates for food workers, inadequate pest control measures, failure to obtain mandatory product registration, absence of required certification for colored paper and flavoring used in cake production, storage of food items directly on the floor, use of unlabeled chemicals without receipts, and failure to produce purchase and sales invoices for raw materials.

After admitting to the violations, Rajdhani Bakery was fined Tk 100,000 under the Food Safety Act, 2013. The fine was collected on the spot, and authorities instructed the establishment to comply with food safety standards and refrain from similar violations in the future. In the same operation, Talha Food Products was fined Tk 20,000 under the Consumer Rights Protection Act, 2009 for various irregularities.

The mobile court was led by Executive Magistrate Md. Millat Hossain of the Deputy Commissioner's Office. Rafiqul Islam, Food Safety Officer of the Bangladesh Food Safety Authority in Madaripur, along with a team of Ansar personnel, also participated in the enforcement drive. The operation underscores the district administration's commitment to ensuring food safety and protecting consumer rights.
