The Industrial Police has called on the government to establish its own permanent headquarters and increase its manpower to ensure effective security and law enforcement in Bangladesh's rapidly expanding industrial sector. Additional Inspector General of Industrial Police Gazi Jashim Uddin emphasized the need for these measures to improve operational efficiency and support the force's growing responsibilities.

## Current Challenges

Since its establishment in 2010, the Industrial Police has been operating from rented premises in Uttara, Dhaka. Jashim Uddin highlighted that a permanent headquarters is essential to enhance operational efficiency and accommodate the force's expanding duties. Additionally, the force faces a significant manpower shortage, with around 3,470 personnel against an approved strength of 4,200.

## Proposed Solutions

To address these challenges, the Industrial Police has proposed establishing dedicated police lines in key industrial areas such as Ashulia-Savar, Gazipur, Narayanganj, Chattogram, and Mymensingh. Land has already been allocated for these facilities, and the Department of Architecture is preparing the designs.

Jashim Uddin stressed that strengthening infrastructure and increasing manpower would enable the force to respond more effectively to labour disputes, protect industrial assets, and maintain a secure environment for both workers and investors. The industrial sector, particularly the ready-made garment industry, continues to expand, employing over four million workers and generating significant export earnings.
