The International Crimes Tribunal (ICT)-2 has taken into cognizance the formal charge filed in the case of the brutal killing of Shaikh Ashhabul Yamin in Savar during the 2024 July Mass Uprising. The second tribunal, headed by Justice Nazrul Islam Chowdhury, issued arrest warrants against 13 of the 19 accused. The six other accused have been ordered to appear before the tribunal on August 25.

Yamin, a fourth-year student in the Computer Science and Engineering department at the Military Institute of Science and Technology (MIST) in Dhaka, was dragged from a police APC in the Savar Bank Colony area on July 18, 2024, and his body was dropped on the street. Despite being alive, he was left to die from his wounds after being tossed across a road divider. He was allegedly tortured to death after being taken to a police station.
