Farmers in Dumuria invest months of labor and money to grow their crops, only to face exploitation when they take their produce to wholesale markets. They deposit their vegetables at arats (wholesale markets) in the morning without knowing the price they will receive. Allegations suggest that traders fix prices at night, often at Taka 8 to 12 per kilogram, leaving farmers with little negotiating power.

## Illegal Practices and Proposed Solutions

Upazila Agricultural Marketing Officer Abdul Razzaq stated that fixing prices at night is illegal and unethical under the Agricultural Marketing Act. He announced plans for special monitoring and drives to ensure prices are determined through open auctions and displayed on digital boards. Dumuria Upazila Agriculture Officer Nazmul Huda highlighted the need for a direct 'farmers’ market' to bypass middlemen.

## Administrative Action and Farmer Demands

Dumuria UNO Sabita Sarker confirmed receipt of complaints and announced plans for mobile courts and legal action against syndicates. Farmers are demanding an immediate end to exploitation and effective measures to ensure fair prices.
