Two members of the same family in Charghat Upazila, Shamsher Ali and his daughter-in-law Tania Begum, tragically lost their lives after being electrocuted on August 14, 2026. The accident took place in Anupampur Colonipara village when Tania went to hang wet clothes on a rope hanging near an electric wire connected to a charging van inside their home. Shamsher Ali, witnessing the incident, rushed to save Tania but was also electrocuted. Despite being taken to the Charghat Upazila Health Complex, both were pronounced dead by the doctor on duty.

The wire, which was connected to the van being charged inside the house, extended towards the cowshed. A rope for drying clothes had been placed dangerously close to the live wire, leading to the fatal accident.
