At a views-exchange meeting held at DRU's Shafiqul Kabir auditorium, DRU President Abu Saleh Akon highlighted that mainstream journalism is facing challenges due to the misuse of press identity and the spread of unprofessional reporting, which tarnishes the image of genuine journalists.

## Proposed Initiatives

The meeting, presided over by DRU President Abu Saleh Akon and moderated by General Secretary Mainul Hasan Sohel, emphasized the need for a transparent registration system, financial capability checks before granting media licenses, and ensuring regular salaries for journalists. DRU General Secretary also highlighted DRU's success in securing five-day Eid holidays and ongoing efforts for two weekly holidays, with initiatives underway to ensure a minimum entry-level salary of Taka 35,000 for journalists.

Representatives from TV channels and journalists' leaders called for workshops, wage board formation, job security, AI-based training, and stronger welfare measures to enhance the professional standards and ethical practices in journalism.
