In a series of operations, the Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) arrested five suspects, recovered illegal firearms, and seized approximately 100 kilograms of cannabis in Dhaka and its surrounding areas. The Counter Terrorism and Transnational Crime unit arrested four suspects in two separate drives. Two suspects were caught red-handed during an alleged robbery attempt at Kawran Bazar, while the other two were detained in connection with an e-fraud case under investigation by Ramna Model Police Station.

## Arms Recovery and Ongoing Investigations

In another operation, Mirpur Model Police Station arrested a 24-year-old suspect after recovering a foreign-made pistol, two live rounds, four spent cartridges, and a fired bullet-like object. The suspect is alleged to have shot and seriously injured a man over a territorial dispute in the Mirpur-10 area. The victim is currently undergoing treatment at Dhaka Medical College Hospital, and efforts are ongoing to arrest the remaining suspects.

## Major Cannabis Seizure

Meanwhile, the Traffic Police's Badda Zone seized a Nissan Jeep carrying approximately 100 kilograms of cannabis during a checkpoint operation near BRAC University in Aftabnagar. The driver abandoned the vehicle and fled the scene. Police have initiated a drive to identify and arrest the absconding suspect, and legal proceedings are underway.

## Significance and Implications

These operations highlight the DMP's ongoing efforts to combat crime and illegal activities within the capital. The recovery of illegal firearms and significant quantities of cannabis underscores the persistent challenges posed by criminal elements. The swift action by the police not only disrupts criminal networks but also sends a strong message about the consequences of engaging in illegal activities.

## What Happens Next

The arrested suspects will face legal proceedings, and the police will continue their investigations to identify and apprehend any remaining individuals involved in these criminal activities. The seizure of the cannabis and firearms will be crucial evidence in the ongoing cases, potentially leading to further arrests and the dismantling of criminal operations.
