The Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) has filed 3,206 cases against vehicles for violating traffic rules over the past two days. The traffic division of the DMP conducted a regular enforcement campaign on Thursday and Friday aimed at ensuring traffic discipline, reducing congestion, and improving road safety across the city. The campaign involved towing vehicles, filing cases against violators, and urging both motorists and pedestrians to comply with traffic regulations.

During the enforcement drive, the DMP impounded 878 motor vehicles and towed 501 vehicles. The campaign was spread across various divisions within the city, with specific numbers of cases filed in each area. For instance, the Traffic-Ramna Division filed 215 cases, including 19 against buses, 10 covered vans, 16 CNG-run auto-rickshaws, and 71 motorcycles.

The Traffic-Lalbagh Division filed 228 cases, which included 14 buses, 14 trucks, two covered vans, 13 CNG-run auto-rickshaws, and 118 motorcycles. Meanwhile, the Traffic-Motijheel Division filed 512 cases, with 29 buses, two trucks, and 269 motorcycles among the violators.

In the Traffic-Wari Division, 445 cases were filed, involving 50 buses, 41 trucks, 31 covered vans, 50 CNG-run auto-rickshaws, and 159 motorcycles. The Traffic-Tejgaon Division filed 244 cases, including 13 buses, one truck, eight covered vans, 24 CNG-run auto-rickshaws, and 106 motorcycles.

The Traffic-Mirpur Division saw the filing of 669 cases, with 25 buses, 22 trucks, 47 covered vans, 72 CNG-run auto-rickshaws, and 258 motorcycles among the violators. The Uttara division registered 612 cases, including 52 buses, 19 trucks, 23 covered vans, 54 CNG-run auto-rickshaws, and 261 motorcycles.

The Traffic-Gulshan Division filed 273 cases, which included 39 buses, six trucks, eight covered vans, 29 CNG-run auto-rickshaws, and 73 motorcycles. The DMP stated that such enforcement drives will continue as part of their ongoing efforts to maintain traffic discipline and ensure road safety in the city.
