A Dhaka court has set August 30 as the deadline for submitting the probe report in the murder case of popular movie superstar Salman Shah. Dhaka Metropolitan Magistrate Jewel Rana passed the order after the investigation officer failed to submit the report today. Salman Shah's maternal uncle, Mohammad Alamgir, filed the case against 11 people, including Salman’s wife Samira Haque, on October 21, 2025. The case was initially treated as unnatural death but was later ordered to be treated as murder by Dhaka's 6th Additional Metropolitan Sessions Judge Md Jannatul Ferdous Ibn Haque on October 20, 2025.

## Case Background

Salman Shah, born Chowdhury Mohammad Shahriar (Emon), was found dead at his Eskaton residence on September 6, 1996. His parents, Nilufar Zaman Chowdhury (Neela Chowdhury) and the late Kamar Uddin Ahmed Chowdhury, along with their younger son Shahraan Shah, discovered Salman lying motionless with rope marks on his neck. Doctors at Dhaka Medical College Hospital declared him dead upon arrival.

## Legal Proceedings

Initially, an unnatural death case was filed by Salman's father. However, on July 24, 1997, Salman's father filed a petition seeking to register the case under Section 302 of the Penal Code, alleging murder. Following his death, Mohammad Alamgir, Salman's maternal uncle, took over the case under a power of attorney.
