# Chattogram Development Authority Completes Draft of 2025-2050 Master Plan

*The Chattogram Development Authority has completed the draft of its Metropolitan Master Plan, aiming to transform Chattogram into a sustainable and modern city over the next 25 years.*

In a significant step towards urban transformation, the Chattogram Development Authority (CDA) has finalized the draft of the Chattogram Metropolitan Master Plan (2025-2050). This master plan, which spans approximately 1,255 square kilometers and includes 41 city corporation wards and adjacent municipalities, seeks to develop Chattogram into a well-planned, sustainable, and modern metropolis. The draft will now undergo a 60-day public feedback period starting from August 2.

At a press conference, CDA Chairman Engineer Belayet Hossain elaborated on the plan's key elements. He highlighted the necessity to prevent further damage to Chattogram's natural beauty and hills, which have suffered under previous development efforts. The new plan mandates strict adherence to established designs, with a complete ban on constructions that deviate from these guidelines. Any violations, including those by hospitals and educational institutions, will result in the termination of essential services such as electricity and water.

To enforce the new regulations, a committee will be formed in collaboration with the ministries of home affairs, law, and information. This committee will be responsible for identifying and removing all illegal structures within residential areas over the next month. Hossain expressed optimism that through the collective efforts of all relevant organizations, Chattogram can be transformed into a green, safe, and internationally renowned city.

This master plan aims not only to enhance the urban landscape of Chattogram but also to significantly improve the quality of life for its residents. By focusing on sustainability and modern infrastructure, the plan positions Chattogram to become a leading example of urban development in Bangladesh, potentially influencing other cities within the country.
