# Seven Fatalities Reported in Tragic Bus Collision on Dhaka-Sylhet Highway

At least seven individuals, including a woman, lost their lives and 13 others were injured in a devastating head-on collision between two passenger buses on the Dhaka-Sylhet Highway in Sylhet's Osmaninagar upazila on August 7, 2026. The incident occurred around 7:15 am in the Kashikapan area, approximately 22 kilometers from Sylhet city. Both buses, reportedly losing control during an overtaking maneuver, veered off the highway and plunged into a roadside ditch.

## Details of the Incident

The buses involved in the tragic accident were a Dhaka-bound Unique Paribahan bus from Sylhet and a Bengal Paribahan bus traveling from Dhaka to Sylhet. According to Sherpur Highway Police Station Officer-in-Charge Md Anisur Rahman, the bodies of seven passengers were recovered from the Unique Paribahan bus. The injured passengers were transported to Sylhet M.A.G. Osmani Medical College Hospital for treatment. Police are currently working to complete the necessary legal procedures before moving the bodies to the police station.
