# Border Guard Bangladesh Seizes Over Tk 202.63 Crore Worth of Smuggled Goods in July

In a significant crackdown on smuggling, the Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB) seized an array of contraband goods worth over Tk 202.63 crore in July 2026. The seized items included precious metals, garments, electronics, and a substantial quantity of narcotics. This operation underscores the BGB's commitment to curbing illegal trade across the country's borders.

According to a BGB press release, the confiscated goods encompassed 4.254 kilograms of gold, 216 diamond nose pins, 7.930 kilograms of silver, and a variety of textiles and clothing items. Additionally, the BGB recovered 864,356 fireworks, 1,751 cubic feet of timber, and 221,090 kilograms of coal, among other goods.

The operation also led to the seizure of a significant amount of electronic items, including 624 mobile phones, 4,360 mobile displays, and 36,170 mobile phone components. Furthermore, the BGB confiscated 20,000 pieces of medical equipment, 71,400 razor blades, and 3,700 pairs of spectacles.

In addition to these items, the BGB seized a variety of agricultural and food products, such as 47,776 kilograms of cumin, 42,931 kilograms of garlic, and 13,329 kilograms of sugar. The force also recovered 12,486 kilograms of fertilizers and 17,479 kilograms of current fishing nets.

The BGB's efforts resulted in the arrest of 191 suspected smugglers involved in trafficking yaba and other narcotics. Additionally, 31 Bangladeshi citizens, three Indian citizens, and 81 Myanmar citizens were detained for illegally crossing the border. Legal actions were taken against all detainees.
