The Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB) has launched a month-long mobile phone servicing and repairing training program in the border areas of Sapahar upazila in Naogaon district. The initiative, which began on August 9, is aimed at creating alternative employment opportunities and discouraging youths from engaging in smuggling, drug trafficking, and other criminal activities.

## Creating Opportunities in Border Areas

Organized by the Naogaon Battalion (16 BGB) at the Border Technical Training Centre in Aihai Union Parishad, the training will last until September 3. A total of 27 unemployed male youths from Aihai Union are participating. The trainees will receive both theoretical and practical lessons on identifying, repairing, and maintaining hardware and software-related faults in mobile phones, as well as modern mobile servicing technologies.

Two skilled local trainers selected by the Department of Youth Development are conducting the training. The program was formally inaugurated by Lieutenant Colonel Mohammad Ariful Islam Masum, the commander of Naogaon Battalion (16 BGB), who emphasized the importance of such initiatives in transforming border area youths into skilled, self-reliant, and productive individuals.

## Focus on Sustainable Employment

The commander highlighted that these training programs would help create sustainable self-employment opportunities. The inaugural ceremony was attended by local administration officials, elected representatives, youth development officials, and journalists.

By equipping border area youths with valuable skills, the BGB aims to reduce the prevalence of criminal activities and foster a more stable and productive community. This program represents a significant step towards achieving long-term economic stability and security in these regions.

The training not only provides immediate employment opportunities but also aims to develop a skilled workforce that can contribute to the local economy in a positive and sustainable manner.
