# State Minister’s Initiative Provides New Home for Beggar Firoza and Employment for Her Daughter

In a heartwarming initiative, 65-year-old beggar Firoza Begum has been provided with a new home, bringing an end to her years of hardship. Firoza, who had been living in a dilapidated tin shack, now has a secure place to live. Additionally, her widowed daughter Shamsunnahar has been provided with employment, enabling her to support her family. This initiative was facilitated by State Minister for Information and Broadcasting Yasser Khan Chowdhury, following a report by Upazila Nirbahi Officer (UNO) Fatema Jannat.

## A Life of Hardship

Firoza Begum’s struggles began after the death of her husband, Suruj Ali, about 35 years ago. Left with just one decimal of land in Dashalia village under Nandail municipality of Mymensingh, she survived with her daughter Shamsunnahar. The family lived in a rusted, dilapidated tin shack where rainwater seeped through the roof, causing constant fear and misery.

## Turning Point

The turning point came when local volunteer Emdadul Haque informed UNO Fatema Jannat about Firoza’s plight. The UNO visited her home and reported the situation to State Minister Yasser Khan Chowdhury. Following the minister’s immediate directive and support, the Mymensingh district administration, through the Social Welfare Council, started constructing a new house for Firoza Begum.

## Employment for Daughter

In addition to the housing arrangement, consideration was given to the struggles of Firoza’s daughter Shamsunnahar, who has four children. UNO Fatema Jannat confirmed that employment has been arranged for Shamsunnahar, enabling her to become self-reliant and bear her family’s responsibilities. Expressing gratitude, Firoza Begum said, “Those who arranged this house for me, I will pray for them in my five daily prayers. May Allah keep them well.”
