# Explosion in Barishal's Bakerganj Injures Three Family Members

Early this morning, a powerful explosion in Bakerganj upazila, Barishal, left three individuals, including a woman and a child, with severe burn injuries. The blast, which took place around 6:00 am in Dudhalmou village under Bhorpasha union, has prompted urgent medical intervention and an ongoing investigation to determine its source.

## Immediate Response and Medical Attention

The injured, identified as Hanufa Begum, 50, her daughter Iti, 22, and grandson Fahim, 14, were initially taken to Bakerganj Upazila Health Complex. Given the severity of their injuries, they were later transferred to Sher-e-Bangla Medical College Hospital in Barishal for specialized treatment. According to family members, the explosion occurred near Shah Alam Hawlader's house, causing the victims to jump into the nearby Tulatala River in a desperate attempt to escape the flames.

Shah Alam's son, Jamal, reported that the explosion happened inside a sack of sand kept beside the house. The incident has sparked panic among local residents, who are now anxiously awaiting updates on the victims' conditions.

## Investigation Launched

Authorities have launched a thorough investigation to ascertain the cause and nature of the explosion. Officer-in-Charge (OC) of Bakerganj Police Station, Adil Hossain, assured that the investigation is being handled with utmost priority. 'We are working to determine the type of explosive used and identify those responsible,' said the OC, adding that the purpose behind leaving the suspected explosive at the site remains unclear.

Legal action will follow based on the investigation's findings, according to the OC. Additionally, a Bomb Disposal Unit from Dhaka has been dispatched to Barishal to assist in the examination of the scene and to determine the exact type of explosive involved in the incident.

Barishal Superintendent of Police, AZM Mostafizur Rahman, emphasized the importance of the ongoing investigation, stating that the specialized team's expertise will be crucial in uncovering the details of the explosion and preventing future incidents.
