Law, Justice and Parliamentary Affairs Minister Md. Asaduzzaman today urged lawyers' organisations to work above political divisions for professional development, unity, and welfare of lawyers. He made the remarks while addressing the Summer Convention-2026 of Khulna Divisional Lawyers' Association and its 30th anniversary programme at the Supreme Court Bar Association auditorium. The minister said such organisations should prioritise professional interests, mutual cooperation, and humanitarian values instead of political identity. He stressed the need for promoting unity, tolerance, and reconciliation in society and creating opportunities for experience sharing and skill development among senior and young lawyers. Asaduzzaman said the legal community has a vital role in establishing rule of law, human rights, democratic values, and justice and called for upholding professional integrity and ethics. Bangladesh Bar Council Vice-Chairman and Senior Advocate Zainul Abedin, Supreme Court Bar Association President Barrister A M Mahbub Uddin Khokon, and other senior lawyers also addressed the programme.

The call for unity and professional development among lawyers comes at a time when the legal community faces various challenges, including ensuring access to justice, maintaining ethical standards, and adapting to technological advancements. The minister's emphasis on humanitarian values and mutual cooperation reflects a broader effort to strengthen the legal profession in Bangladesh. The event also highlighted the importance of experience sharing between senior and young lawyers, which is crucial for the continuous growth and improvement of the legal community.

The legal community plays a pivotal role in upholding the rule of law, protecting human rights, and ensuring justice for all citizens. By promoting unity and professional integrity, lawyers can better serve the public and contribute to a more just society. The minister's remarks underscore the need for the legal profession to remain apolitical and focused on its core mission of providing legal services and advocating for justice.

The Summer Convention-2026 and the 30th anniversary programme of the Khulna Divisional Lawyers' Association provided a platform for lawyers to discuss these important issues and explore ways to enhance their professional capabilities. The participation of senior advocates and legal professionals in the event demonstrated a collective commitment to improving the legal landscape in Bangladesh. The minister's call for action is a reminder of the ongoing efforts required to maintain and elevate the standards of the legal profession.
